Jeffrey Schwersenski, MD, is a Staff Neonatologist at Cleveland Clinic. He was the first Neonatologist at Cleveland Clinic when Birthing Services opened in May of 1995. He has worked to upgrade services at Hillcrest Hospital to advanced level 2 status (1996 to present). Dr. Schwersenski is actively involved in the expansion and development of a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit at Hillcrest Hospital. He received the Dr. Edward R. Cerutti Award for Excellence in Breast Feeding Advocacy at Hillcrest Hospital in 2006. Hillcrest Hospital is a member of the Vermont - Oxford Network, which maintains a database and outcomes for very low birthweight infants (birthweight < 1500 grams). Dr. Schwersenski is the Team Leader for Hillcrest Hospital in this effort. Physician Champion (Neonatal Team) representing Hillcrest Hospital in the Ohio Perinatal Quality Collaborative, Neonatal Improvement Project, the goal of which is Improving Perinatal care in Ohio.
