OVERVIEW
Though I grew up in Wisconsin and received my medical education and surgical training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I am a longtime Rockford resident. My wife and I moved here in 1982 and raised our two sons here. I've maintained a surgical practice in the community for almost thirty years. I've also taught at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Rockford since coming to town. My colleagues and I share our interest in the education of our future physicians. I feel it is important that our students become good doctors. Most don't go into surgery, but I want them to learn about surgical illnesses and treatment.
I have a special interest in disorders of the breast and thyroid and parathyroid glands. Outside of surgery, my interests include reading (especially history), travel and collecting watches.
Practice Philosophy:
I try to discuss with my patients, to the best of my ability, my understanding of their problem and potential treatments. If I don't feel surgery …is indicated, I will say so. I feel patients have to be able to trust their doctor and I try to be as honest as I can.
