"After waiting 5 months to see an endocrinologist, I am very disappointed after seeing Dr. Patel. I went to him with a list of symptoms. He tested me for one diagnosis. Now he won’t return my messages or request for more testing. I am super upset. I still have the same symptoms and no diagnosis or medical plan to get better. "

"My interaction with Dr Patel was awful. I have PCOS and wanted to find ways to deal with the underlying issues of why I have trouble losing weight, which is insulin resistance. I explained that I only experience success when severely restricting carbs and have done keto, but find that it’s not sustainable. I’m also a stress eater and easily stressed as my hormones are unbalanced, and it’s a vicious cycle that I need to address so I can successfully lose weight. I was met with a condescending tone that weight loss is easy and I just need to do it. I was told that I’m like his girlfriend Candace and she “fake works out” and he has to trick her into working out and being active because she is also overweight. He said if he can lose weight, I can too. He explained how he lost so much weight that he had an “anorexic look” and actually had to put weight back on. He compared having kids to him having a dog and that I just need to find the time to do high intensity workouts. He eventually told ...
me that I was looking for a magic pill despite me saying otherwise. He was very rude and condescending, and knew very well that he was upsetting me. He told me he doesn’t prescribe meds like ozempic and never has, but then offered to prescribe an alternative med, saxenda but said he wasn’t sure if I could afford it. I fought back tears towards the end of our interaction but lost the fight when I got in my car. I immediately called my husband to tell him about my experience and spent the drive home crying and wondering how someone could be so heartless. This poor excuse for a medical professional needs to work on his bedside manner and understand that people go to him for help. He didn’t want to hear what I had to say and almost seemed angered and disgusted by me. I explained that prior to having kids, I was 140lbs and never struggled with weight. I’m stuck around 200lbs now and need help. He was not helpful and actually increased my stress and anxiety over losing weight. I refuse to ever return to this office, and called my OB who referred me and told them my experience. They referred me to another endocrinologist that had good reviews. I get the impression that Dr Patel feels that he’s above everyone, and he has a level of disgust for women. The way he talked to me and then about his own girlfriend is is appalling. And I imagine if she knew what he told his patients, she would be so embarrassed. I will never recommend this doctor but will remember to tell everyone woman I know that needs help with PCOS not to go to this doctor. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
