Dr. Janis Fuller began what would become her life-long pursuit of excellence within the field of Dentistry in 1978. After receiving her B.S. in Biology with High Honors from Virginia Commonwealth University, she then went on to attain her degree as Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Tennessee’s Center for the Health Sciences. Since her completion of dental school in 1983 Dr. Fuller has enjoyed the privilege of working one on one with patients and other colleagues for over 20 years, both within private practice and while teaching as an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi’s School of Dentistry from 1996-1999.
Dr. Fuller believes strongly that everyone deserves “a beautiful smile and problem-free teeth.†She feels that regular dental checkups are vital to one’s overall health. “Some diseases have warning signs that can appear early within the mouth. By identifying these changes, we can often help in the detection of health problems at a stage during which they can be treated successfully.â€
In addition to early detection, research also suggests that there may be a link between periodontal diseases and other health concerns such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, and increased risk during pregnancy (which may include pre-term, low birth-weight complications). “Your investment in your dental health and cosmetic dentistry will last for years and a gorgeous smile will never go out of style. The self-assurance that comes along with a great smile will always encourage you to put your best look forward!â€
