"Not a very good doctor in my opinion. Perhaps he could be, but not based on a year of being his patient. Does not do physical exams at all, or if so he does not do so very thoroughly. You need to take your time with some exams. He, nor staff, sanitize hands before touching patient, nor uses gloves. That's one of the most important tasks every medical provider needs to do. It is a job requirement. He displays no interests in me as a patient. Others whom I have spoken with have shared the same thing. He/his staff does not take your temperature. Such a quick and easy and important part of every exam. Others have also shared with me his failure to diagnose or treat, with detrimental outcomes. He tries to send you to Johnstown when Somerset has a variety of options available. He failed to review my labs with me. I began discussing such with him, and he just said, "Come with me." You're wondering why, then you discover he is dismissing you. That is how he walks you out of his office, ...
without telling you what he is doing, and by the time you follow him to the front desk, he's gone and you're left wondering what just happened. He is dismissive of patients' concerns. He pads his reports, and bills accordingly. That's called insurance fraud. Many, if not most, medical providers equally commits such acts everyday. It is wrong in so many ways. It is also criminal. That is such an injustice to the patient and absolutely creates false dialogue (information) in your medical reports that can negatively impact your medical care and taint such for years to come. I can only encourage patients to always get copies of your reports from all medical providers. If you find incorrect information, report it and request addendums to amend and correct or remove any false information. You are apt to be dumped by the doctor in so doing, but we all deserve the best medical care. That is not good medical practice nor good medical care. I recently sought care for something that could have serious medical ramifications. His nurse was aware and took images to confirm such. Hong denied such, didn't get close enough to see, and did absolutely nothing. I had to go somewhere else afterwards and was treated very well by the other facility with proper follow-up. I had imaging studies done. I reviewed such with him, including showing the images. I had concerns about something in the images. I asked Hong to refer me somewhere for a second opinion. He absolutely refused. He is not a radiologist. His insight and help was needed. Being new to the area, I asked his help in finding somewhere appropriate to send for a second set of eyes. He refused. That's negligence in my opinion. It made me wonder why he would not help me. ???? He is a smoker. I do not trust doctors who use known carcinogens. There is something inherently wrong with that. I can't recommend Jae U. Hong as a medical provider. Regardless of the so called good reviews about him, when a doctor does a great disservice to me, and known others, it is us, the patients, who stand to lose. You lose the opportunity to get timely, quality medical care before potentially more harm comes to you. Remember the Hippocratic oath - "First do no harm." Whatever job you do, you have an obligation to do it well. "
