OVERVIEW

Dr. Westmoreland is from Mooresville, NC. He studied organ at Davidson College before going to Princeton University where he was graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors in chemistry. He studied medicine at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and did his internship and residency with Dr. Lorraine Nardi at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He continued his training with gerontologist Dr. John Collins Harvey during a fellowship in general internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital before beginning his practice in Poughkeepsie in 1985. His older patients referred their senior friends and family to Dr. Westmoreland. He then studied geriatrics at Mt. Sinai and NYU Schools of Medicine and was certified in Geriatric Medicine on his mother’s sixty-fifth birthday in 1994. Dr. Westmoreland is a PADI-trained Advance Open Water scuba diver and a member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society as well as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the choir at the United Church of Christ in Cornwall, CT and enjoys playing piano and country fiddle.
