"I've had cancer before. It was found in my uterus during my hysterectomy at age 40. When I felt a lump in my left breast, I called Dr Erica Sjunnesen asking for an appointment. She was unable to see me but I did see her physicians assistant who confirmed the lump and that I needed a mammogram and an ultrasound. She said that they would get back to me on an appt time. Two weeks later, I hadn't heard anything so I contacted them. They said someone would get back to me. Two days after that, I had someone called me from the office who scheduled an ultrasound but said it would be six months before I could be seen for a mammogram. I said ok that's fine, I'll look for a place to have a mammogram myself even though I wasn't quite sure how to go about doing that. It took me a bit to figure out how to use this website since this goddamn insurance stuff makes things so much more complicated than it needs to be.
So I contacted Oschner to try to find one. The woman I talked to on the phone was confused ...as to why I had an ultrasound and not a mammogram booked. I explained what happened. She said no problem and that she would reschedule a mammogram and ultrasound near each other and send me the information since I said day and time didn't matter. Nothing was sent.
I contacted Dr Sjunnesens office again a week after that and they said things would be scheduled and the Dr would get back to me. Nothing scheduled, no contact. for several days. I decided that ok I'd call and make my own appt and found a place that had an appt available within the next week or so. They told me that they needed a number from the Dr to schedule it. So I contacted the Dr's office again to tell them what was said. I was told by the Dr's office that I'd have to make an appt first then they'd supply the number. So now we have circular logic going on and I called the Dr's office out on this because THEY ARE THE DR'S OFFICE and now it's been at least a month since that appt. I was told that the Dr would contact the place I wanted to get the mammogram done. It is now 9:32pm and Dr Erica Sjunnesen never did contact them.
Now add onto this that I need a refill of my anxiety medicine. I've been taking these for a good ten years and she is aware of this. So the last time I talked to them, I told them that I need a refill. They said that it will be the 23rd before she's available for even a virtual appt. It's the 16th. I'll be ok for a day or two but beyond that I'm not sure what will happen since I've never experienced suddenly going cold turkey on such a powerful drug before and I'm worried.
I've received contact from the nurse saying it's not the Dr's fault. I beg to differ. "Read more
