Dr. Elizabeth Duane grew up in Massachussetts, graduating from Simmons College in Boston in 1975. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Class of 1979. In 1987 she became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.)
Dr. Duane is a member of the Academy of Women Dentists Suffolk County Dental Society, New York State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. She has also been involved with the L.D. Pankey Institute in Florida for the past twenty years.
Outside the office, Dr. Duane is a proud mother of three children: Patrick, 26, Mary Liz 22, and Sarah 20. She enjoys playing tennis, golf and gardening in her spare time.
Dr. Brian McCurdy graduated from Wantagh High School in 1968. He did his undergraduate studies at the College of The HolyCross in Worcester, Massachussetts and graduated in 1972. Dr. McCurdy studied dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1976. He is also a graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute.
He practiced dentistry with his father, Dr. Richard McCurdy, for fifteen years until Dr. McCurdy, Sr. retired. Dr. McCurdy has practiced general dentistry in West Islip with Dr. Elizabeth Duane (his wife) since 1979. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, in particular, cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. McCurdy is a member of the Suffolk County Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the Suffolk Society of Forensic Dentistry.
Doctors Duane and McCurdy have three children: Sarah is a junior at Stanford University, MazyLiz graduated from Stanford University in June, 2009 and Patrick graduated from Holy Cross in 2006 and is a lieutenant in the Navy and served one year in Iraq.
Annie has been with Doctors Duane and McCurdy for over 30 years. She began in Dr. Richard and Brian McCurdy's Wantagh office. Annie has been at the front desk for most of that time but in recent years has switched mostly to assisting Dr. Duane. She still works at the front desk part time and enjoys keeping her hands in all phases of the office because she likes to keep busy. "I enjoy working with patients one on one with the doctor and I especially like working on the children." Annie and her husband have 2 grown children and they enjoy traveling, skiing, hiking and the beach.
Ellen joined our practice in 2002. She graduated from SUNY Farmingdale with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1987. Ellen has been in private practice for the last 21 years. Ellen is certified by the State of New York to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide for your complete comfort. Ellen stays current with new technologies through continuing education. Ellen lives in Holbrook with her husband and son who attends Sachem North High School. Ellen enjoys traveling, and is an avid Giants fan.
