"This provider took me off of a benzodiazepine "cold turkey" without a tapering plan or any warning about what to expect, affecting my cognition and awareness so profoundly that I got in a car accident. There is ample literature about the dangers of abrupt cessation of benzodiazepines, which unfortunately I only found out about after the fact. Because this happened, it made my second attempt at withdrawal a year later significantly worse, which is a documented phenomenon. The last year of my life has been a nightmare dealing with this, barely keeping my job and holding my life together. I have been told that most of this could have been avoided with a proper taper of this medication. "
