"Dr. Paugh is extremely disorganized and disrespectful of his clients' time. I only attended his office three times and have many examples. First, I was the first client scheduled on my initial appointment. I had to wait 15 minutes for him to even arrive, then several more to be called in and watch him get situated while beginning our session. Sure, people run late sometimes, I can forgive it. Second appointment, I arrived on time and had to wait 30 minutes to be called in. I guess this is kind of the norm at busier offices but it's certainly a pattern now! Third and final appointment, (Dr. Paugh does his own scheduling, beware of this!) I show up on time and the receptionist informs me I'm not on the schedule. I then overhear her telling someone else in the lobby that their appointment is for the time I was scheduled at. So we got double booked. Rather than reschedule or let me know there will be a substantial wait due to the doctor's error, Charlie instead decides to try and run both ...
appointments at the same time. He sits me in his office and gives me a flyer to read. He bounces out, and I set my stopwatch. 20 minutes later, without a peep, I walked out. Maybe if the sessions had been beneficial in some way I would have tolerated the egregious disorganization. However, Charlie's techniques appear antiquated. He doesn't even pretend to have updated his standards since 2010. He has printouts from textbooks that have dates scrawled on them from when they were printed/accessed. He wheels all of his flyers in on a little hand dolly and has to shuffle through his stack of papers to find the one he wants. He doesn't have any recent books on the shelf and his use of technology or any modern psych theory is limited at best. He didn't remember anything of importance from my intake session. I'm generously giving 2 stars because perhaps my treatment case is outside of his specialties. I had a lot of trouble finding a local therapist and did not vet Dr. Paugh at all before accepting an appointment, due to feelings in crisis mode. He's also a nice guy and I enjoyed the casual chat parts of my appointment. Overall, if you make an appointment, make sure you're prepared to block out an extra hour of your time to accommodate the doctor's time management skills. Be clear and double check appointment times and any payment information (he also bungled my insurance somehow despite me having no problems anywhere else. I'm still trying to pay him, unfortunately.) "
