"I chose Dr. Charles Friend D.O. as my PCP when I re-located from Tampa Fl to Spring Hill Fl. My first 2 appointments were rescheduled due to vacation. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection when I actually had bronchitis. Referrals were never received in a timely manner. Authorizations for my referrals required by my HMO were constantly delayed after finally receiving them. The office manager is extremely rude and is certainly not focused on patient care. The remaining front office staff are very young and inexperienced. I called for an office appointment and was asked by the young woman answering my call what the reason was and stated she would tell the dr and he would call me back. She called me back soon afterwards and told me the dr said to go to the ER. I questioned this, but was so alarmed that I actually went. My ER bill was declined by my ins company, the one and only denial of coverage that I have ever received in the 17 years that I have had my Humana policy. My request for ...
reconsideration was also denied based on the information received from Dr Friend's office pertaining to the ER visit. I was left with an outstanding medical bill for the visit even though his office directed me to go there. I sincerely regret not researching this doctors patient reviews before choosing him. In the 9 months I was his patient, my care was not at all the level of quality care I have always had in the past. BEWARE !! Do your research ! "
