"I saw this doctor of nothing 40 years ago for 3 years or so and he was useless and trite, ugly, sniveling, smarmy, small minded. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and respect for 2 1/2 years though perhaps he had started rubbing me the wrong way even earlier. At the 3 year mark I realized his time was up and he was just spinning his wheels and jerking me around. He desperately tried to hook me back in with We have a lot more work to do, 3 years apparently not enough to do the "work" such as it were. Very simplistic, he summed up my relationship with my father, big resentment at the time, in the most slapdash, laziest ,pat Oedipal terms-Deleuze and Guattari would've laughed in his face- and even expressed sympathy with the old man being a wrongheaded pain in the ass to me. Those were the final straws that had me give him the heave-ho. I've spoken to him since then and he's more disingenuous than ever true to his profession. I've realized most of these headshrinkers are variations of Richard Dreyfuss' Bob in What About Bob except that pompous creep was more honest about his disdain for his patients. Also a big Oscar winning movie from the 80's comes to mind, loathsome Terms of Endearment that everyone found to be so sensitive but really it was insensitive. That's how these intellectually, emotionally bankrupt pedestrians with doctorates strike me along with their sarcastic quips. They have nothing to give. Vultures that feign empathy and insight, overpaid mediocrites with limited knowledge and experience, status quo ho booge stooge tricking for that summer home "
