Aurora Pryor is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She moved to North Carolina to attend Duke University where she completed a dual degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. She continued her education at Duke, receiving her medical degree, surgical residency and fellowship and remaining on the faculty. Her roles at Duke included Division Chief for General Surgery at Durham Regional Hospital and Co-Director of the Duke Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery Program. In 2011, Dr. Pryor moved to Stony Brook taking on the roles of Vice Chair for the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of General Surgery. She is also director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Program.
