Doctor Ashraf El-Shalakany is a Harvard trained Interventionist Electrophysiologist Cardiologist, highly recognized in the southeast Florida Area. He earned his medical degree at the University Ain-Shams in Egypt (1974-1980) and successfully completed his cardiac medicine residency at the national Heart Institute in Cairo Egypt (1981-1983). In 1986 he completed his Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship and 1987 completed at the Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Medical Center. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from 1990-1993 at the University of Texas. His fellowship of Cardiology was completed from 1993-1995 at the Beth Israel Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, his fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology from 1995-1996 at the Beth Israel/ Harvard Medical School, his Senior Cardiology Fellowship at the Beth Israel Hospital/ Harvard medical School and his Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the Iowa Heart Institute in 1997. "Took my dad to Broward hospital due to afib. This doctor has the worst bedside manner. Extremely arrogant, demeaning and overall, not a good person. It is sad because he may be very knowledgeable but the goal of helping the patient is not being achieved."

"Dr. El-Shalakany was my Dad cardiologist for years. In March 2019, he admitted my dad to NorthWest Medical center for a simple procedure as he make it seam to a 80 years dad for a cardioversion. He let us believed that he will do the procedure but did not, give it to another physician who was very rude, did not talked to the family after the procedure. From that point on things went wrong and my dad could not breath about 10 hours after the procedure, he went to a respiratory failure. The medical records was review by an attorney and a group of physician. Base on there findings, El-Shalakany did not need to do a cardioversion on a 80 years old patient, it was may be and experiment for the hospital team or about getting all they can get from Medicare. We could have a case, the state of Florida will not take it, because he was old.My dad was not able to speak with us since that day. He suffered a lot, he was intubated, then had a tracheostomy tube put in. My dad passed away in July ...
