"Dr. Gottlieb did my breast reduction surgery in July 2020. She said it would be a little more difficult because of a lift I had done years ago but she was able to get the records for that so it gave her a "road map" of how it was done. On the morning of my surgery, as she was marking her cutting lines on my breast, she zinged me with a remark of "well you're not going to win any big boob contest". She told me she was shocked my insurance agreed to pay for the surgery. She stuck me as annoyed that I was having it done because, according to her, I wasn't that big. The first follow-up televisit after surgery, I told her that my left breast was larger than the right. She said it should go away when the swelling went down. It never did. I had another follow-up with her in December showing her how the size was still different and all the swelling was gone. I asked her what needed to be done to correct it. She said she would submit it to insurance again to see if they would cover ...
it. Her assistant took pictures then told me they would let me know what insurance said. A month went by and I didn't hear from them. I called the office and was told that they were still waiting to hear from insurance. So I called my insurance company to see what the hold up was on a decision. I was informed that they had not received anything from Dr. Gottlieb's office. One lie by the staff. I called them back telling them that insurance was waiting to receive the paperwork. Again, I waited - two more weeks - nothing. This time I called my insurance first. They still had not received any paperwork or pictures from Dr. Gottlieb's office. I called the office and asked what the status was with the insurance. I was told they were still waiting to hear from there - the second lie by the staff. I finally got in touch with the office manager and she apologized and got the paperwork (no pictures - not sure why they took them if they didn't intend to send them in) to the insurance company. No surprise the claim was denied because it was surgeon error and not the insurance company. When this information came through I asked if we could go ahead and do whatever Dr. Gottlieb could do in her office to fix the size difference. I was sent a form to sign saying that I agreed to pay $1500 for this procedure! So I called and asked why I had to pay anything, doesn't she stand behind her work? I told her from day one that there was a size difference and she said it would be addressed after the swelling went down. The way it was addressed was for me to pay more money and have an in-office procedure. I had the same lift done years ago on both breasts - she got one the right size so why was the other one so different. It's so unfortunate that this happened. This was a life-changing surgery or it was supposed to be due to chronic pain in my neck after it fused several years ago. Now I have to save up a lot of money to try to get it corrected but another surgeon. Super disappointed. "
