"I am very impressed by Dr. Ritland. He did my spinal surgery and I am very happy with it. He takes time to explain, his staff is very good also. I would reccomend him to anyone in need."

"I saw Dr Ritland for a continuing 'post' long ago motorcycle crash that left me damaged. I already knew that the S. cord was compressed and lots of arthritis. I had numerous appendage surgeries to fix other parts but now I had full on spinal stenosis, arthritis grows! And was bending over and in pain. We talked and I immediately liked and trusted him, we both looked at the MRI (ouch) and he said "laminotomy" and it was decided. Lots of planning and then the day of and then recovery. One small glitch due the intense web of scar tissue which grabbed a nerve and removing it made a small hole that was fixed in the dura wall, all good. Hey at my age who knows. But trust him completely. In older folks doctors are always dealing with weaker vessels so to speak, hard to be perfect. I am recovering and would suggest to anyone who wants the best, communicative and kind, well, he's the man. "

"Dr. Stephen Ritland's ONLY location is 107 E. Oak Ave, Flagstaff AZ as part of Northern Arizona Healthcare Medical Group. Dr. Ritland's office is NOT located at 1150 N. San Francisco St. He is NOT part of the Northern Arizona Orthopedics on Turquoise St. He is NOT located in anything called Speciality Book Store. I cannot understand why Web MD persists in posting this incorrect information"

"I have sent in 4 reviews, not ONE has been posted I wonder why a bad review maybe? Good Surgeon ZERO EMPATHY!! This site will not post my reviews, go to vitals to see an honest review. I had a fusion late 2019 it went Bad. Took 2 surgeries for 1 issue, after first surgery I informed Dr about massive leg and foot pain. I was told by Dr "you had a major surgery you should be in agony" yes that was a quote. I had an ER trip *unrelated* ER Dr listened did MRI on back. Found a Pinched spine, fluid collection and infection. I am very lucky not to be paralyzed now. Ritland reluctantly then did a second surgery to correct. This man never showed any human emathy, compassion nor concern for his patient. At 3 months after the 2nd surgery I was released from the Dr, only he Didn't tell me, left it to the nurse to say after he left. I had been informed that he had NO bedside manner by nurses Drs ECT. This was horribly understated!! The man has done surgery on a family member that was great ... ...
However mine was horrid, and it was also done without many pain meds. Again he said "you should be in agony". I STILL have major leg and foot pain in both legs and feet along with a loss of feelings in them. He released me, I am now in the process of finding a surgeon that has SOME empathy. "

" surgeon, ZERO EMPATHY!! Well I wonder why my reviews are not posted, maybe a bad review?? Dr Ritland preformed a spinal fusion on myself. It took 2 surgeries to for the same symptom. After the first I was in major pain for 2 weeks. Ritland told me "you just had a major surgery, you should be in agony" He paid NO attention to my issues, in fact he downplayed the entire situation. I had to go to the hospital (unrelated) in the ER a Dr paid attention to my issues. A MRI was ordered, findings were an almost pinched spine from the surgery. Ritland was advised of the findings, THEN I was scheduled for surgery the next Day!! I am thankful for the Dr at FMC, if it wasn't for him I'd be paralyzed by now. This Dr has done successfull on family members, I know that he is a very competent surgeon. This man has NO bedside manner NOR any empathy for his patients! In hindsight really the only time that the Dr & his staff were really nice was when I "released" me after 3 months from 2nd surgery"

"Monday, January 13, 2020 will be my 3rd fusion by Dr. Ritland. The first 2 were in a different location and they lasted years and years. Now the problem is in another vertebra and I am looking forward to the pain relief that Dr. Ritland gave me before. I just wish he practiced closer to my home. "
