Dr. Jeremy Seth Kortmansky, MD

OncologyInternal Medicine

OVERVIEW

Dr. Jeremy S. Kortmansky, a medical oncologist and hematologist at MOH’s Hamden Surgery & Medical Center facility, has been fascinated by the science of hematology and oncology since the earliest days of his medical training. "The pathways gone awry and the new treatments in development continually piqued my interest," he says. "When my own mother died of breast cancer, I experienced the real impact of the disease. This field enables me to combine my love of science with my commitment to a strong physician-patient partnership." Dr. Kortmansky was initially attracted to MOH by the caliber of MOH’s physicians. "They are motivated, friendly, attentive, and trained through nationally recognized cancer programs," he says. He also likes the close physician-patient relationships he found at MOH. "We remain one of the few physician practices that see our own patients when they are hospitalized, and we provide 24-hour coverage for our patients. I also know that cancer care is a coordinated effort and I am particularly impressed by our access to the newest technology and superbly qualified physicians in the other medical, surgical and radiology fields. It is truly rare to find this depth and breadth of quality in a community-based practice." Skilled in the treatment of all forms of cancer and blood diseases, Dr. Kortmansky has a particular interest and expertise in caring for patients with cancers of the gastrointestinal system, including esophageal, gastric, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, and neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Kortmansky is encouraged by the many advances in cancer care of recent years and has great hope for what the near future promises. "In the past 10 years," he says, "we have learned that cancers are not defined merely by where they originated or how they look under the microscope. We know that differences at the molecular level control how they behave and how they respond to treatment. In the next 10 years, I expect treatments to be determined based on these molecular pathways, optimizing the benefits of a therapy, improving survival, and reducing costs." Fascinated by all these scientific advances, Dr. Kortmansky never loses sight of the human needs the science is serving. "My objective in providing cancer care," he says, "is to allow patients to continue to do the things they enjoy and find a little laughter. Cancer can be an all-consuming entity, if we let it. But I strive to help patients live a good life with their cancer rather than be held captive by it." When not at work, Dr. Kortmansky enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, biking, and gardening.

"My mother had been coming here for blood tests and check ins for 10 years after being cured of breast cancer twice. Early 2021 she was having stomach issues/pain. She went to see Dr. Kortmansky he repeatedly told her she had “GERD” or acid reflux and it was nothing serious to worry about. She went back to see him a number of times in 2021 complaining of the same issues. They even gave her a blood test showing elevated liver levels which in the past was a tell tale sign of cancer with my mother. She continued to tell Dr. Kortmansky she felt it was NOT gerd or acid reflux issues and something more serious was wrong but he wrote it off as her being “paranoid.” She finally ended up going to Hartford Hospital to get an endoscopy and come to find out she had a large tumor in her stomach. She is now under the care of Sloan Kettering in New York. She has INCURABLE Stage 4 Gastric Cancer. If you’ve had cancer before and want to make sure you don’t get it again DO NOT go here or see Dr. ...
Kortmansky he is useless and has no idea how to do his job there is no reason he should continue to have his medical license and be allowed to hold this kind of responsibility. Every doctor we’ve spoken with outside of Smilow has said this is inexcusable and ridiculous my mothers gastric cancer went under the radar this long. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! "

"When I met Dr. Kortmansky, I had little experience, but annual physicals. He greeted me with smiles, chuckles and cajoled me into signing into s study. Dr. Kortmansky explained to me how good it would be for me, and told me the bad side effects listed in contract: DO NOT HAPPEN. Eleven months later I was having a near death experience. I now live with a damaged heart, joints that hurt so bad that I cry, visual disturbances, and more. The contract said if I was injured, the study was responsible to diagnose and treat my injury. DO NOT BELEIVE IT. I have had to fight people much more experienced than me all the way. !BE WARNED! THE STUDIES DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. THE DATA COLLECTED IS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR HUMAN LIFE. Every medical question that I asked Dr. Kortmansky that I later found out the answer. HE WAS WRONG. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
