OVERVIEW

As an urologist, I care for patients of all ages and at all stages of life. I utilize laser and minimally invasive techniques when possible, especially in regard to enlarged prostates and kidney surgery. I perform all modalities of renal laparoscopy for both cancer and benign diseases of the kidney. My services range from consultation to surgery. I became a physician because I wanted a profession that would challenge me for my entire professional career. Medicine is constantly changing and I enjoy being a "life-long" learner. I consider myself a general urologist and enjoy all aspects of urologic medicine. However, I particularly enjoy working with children and with patients facing urologic cancer and stone disease. I enjoy when patients come to their appointment with questions and I am also very willing to provide all necessary information. The best thing they can bring is an open mind and a sense of comfort that it is my intention to help them with whatever urological problems they have. I want my patients to participate in their health care. I will help them understand the options and feel comfortable with the decisions they need to make. I also believe it is critical for me to stay in touch with the patient’s primary care physician, to keep him or her abreast of the patient’s progress. My hobbies and personal interests include spending time with my Chesapeake Bay retriever named "Cayenne," and playing golf. I am certified in SCUBA, and enjoy riding my mountain bike and working out on a regular basis. I also enjoy traveling. Visit our Web site.

"I was referred by an ER to come ASAP, due to a 2cm kidney stone, as well as a couple others, that were causing me a lot of grief (I collapsed at home last week). The reception crew was WONDERFUL, as were the X-ray techs, who needed more imaging of my kidneys. When I arrived in the exam room, the nurse was friendly enough. Everyone I talked to, X-Ray tech, nurses, even the ER, told me this kidney stone was a problem, and I needed to see someone right away to find out how to get it out. Upon entering the room, she looked at me, and said "Hello, why are you here." I said "I apparently have a few kidney stones, one pretty big." She cut me off, saying "Its tiny". I tried to explain myself, because I have severe anxiety, and as I said "Oh, my apologies, the other providers told me it was huge." she again said "its tiny." She then started asking me about the causes of my collapse (of which I have no idea, but Im assuming maybe it was the kidney stones?), and about a note in my chart I had written ...
to my psychiatrist about my depression. (I would like to add that a) that was not relevant information to this appointment, b) I really dont like being accused of "crying for help" for coming to the ER when I COLLAPSED, and c) I would hardly need a referral to a urologist if this was a cry for help.) She then went over how these stones were stuck in the wall of my kidney, there was nothing they could do to remove them, and I was fine, and she left the room saying she wanted to do another test. I sat there completely blown away that I was referred in an emergency situation, and was ignored completely. A couple minutes later, she came back, and said "I need to retract my statement. You do have another stone in your ureter." Not "Im sorry for accusing you of lying" or "Hey, I really should have come in and listened to you and taken you seriously', not "Hey, we found another stone, this could be the cause of your issues", it was just robotic, rude, and she just kind of stared at me the whole time. Once this was discovered, she said they could wait for it to pass or remove it, but in such a condescending way that I knew the answer was waiting. So I said "ill wait" so I could just get out of there. She then told me they wanted to check my bladder. Not how, just that they wanted to. They led me into another room, asked me to drop my pants, sat me down, and proceeded to very hastily jam a bottle of numbing cream into me and come back five minutes later to do the cystoscopy with a camera, which went fairly quickly, but again, absolutely nothing was explained. Afterwards, she told me there was no cancer cells, everything looked okay, patted me on the shoulder and said "Youll be fine", told me there was scripts going to my pharmacy, and left. The nurse asked me to get dressed and told me where the exit was. I asked her about a work excuse, as I lived 45 minutes away and had to go home and change, as I now had urine and gel on myself and clothing. She said "I can check, not sure you need one." At that point, I was defeated, but she got me the note, pointed to the exit, and walked away. After that appointment, I dont think I will ever go to Prevea ever again. I was a first time patient, looking for new care for my mental health, primary care, and this, since I switched jobs, and got new insurance. I honestly may find another option outside of prevea and pay out of pocket. After this experience, and knowing what it cost me to have all this done over the past week, to be written off like that in the office, and treated that way, I will never go back. I may even lose my job for missing so much, since they keep sending me home, and I keep ending up in the ER. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
