"I had resurfacing of my left hip December 14, 2020. I had physical therapy following for 2 months hoping all would be good. Here it is 26 months later and I still have issues with nerves and muscularity. I would not recommend this surgeon for any type of surgery. "

"Dr. Pritchett is an excellent surgeon, I think. But that's where it ends. I had Dr. Pritchett replace my knee for me. I think the surgery went well, but his post-op instructions are just wrong. Which, unfortunately, I found out too late. Now, 8 weeks after my surgery, my knee bends only about 90 degrees, despite working hard at PT for the last 6 weeks. The post-op instructions use 1 page on which pain meds to take (take as little as possible, avoid narcotics (Oxycodone) at all costs, use "distractions" to manage pain, ...) and only 3 lines on how much to move. It should be exactly the opposite!!! After surgery, I got 21 pills of Oxycodone (which the label says can be taken 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours) and an appointment 2 weeks out. That's 1.5 pills a day!!! And this is for surgery that's known to be very painful! As a result, I was lying down with lots of pain, not moving my leg at all, because even the slightest movement was very painful. Only later, after I did more research on the ...
internet, I heard other doctors saying the exact opposite - take as much pain medication as needed to allow at least some movement. If you read this before the surgery, please follow this advice! Also, because I was in lots of pain and my leg was really, really swollen, I asked for a passive movement device. My request was rejected as not needed!?! Since I was complaining a lot, Dr. Prichett/his assistant worked me into his schedule 1 week after surgery and gave me more pain meds. But Dr. Pritchett had no concerns about the fact that I could not bend my knee or raise the leg at all. There was no suggestion like "Oh, you need to push through the pain and move more", he just said that it's expected, and it will get better. So, until I saw my PT (2 weeks, 2 days after my surgery), I had no idea in how bad a shape I was! My advice to any current or future patients of Dr. Pritchett - ask for more pain meds before the surgery, move as much as you can after your surgery, and use the pain meds to help you through this! Also, do some research on your own, the info I got from Dr. Pritchett was simply not enough or even wrong. "

"Dr. Pritchett replaced my right hip in 2011. After the surgery, I expressed concern about weakness in my right leg and a pain in my groin area; he said 'it would go away eventually.' He was quite dismissive of me. It's now 2021 and the pain has never gone away. Look elsewhere for high quality care."

"I thought Dr. Pritchett did a fabulous job replacing my left hip with the superior approach. I was climbing stairs the second day. 2 weeks out I am pain-free. Things to note: after surgery, you will be very thirsty. Stick with the pedialyte or gatorade; I drank lots of water and had to get up 4 times during the night the first night which was not comfortable. Also, be sure the nurses are aware that this surgical approach has NO restrictions. Mine weren't aware of that. Do NOT ignore instructions re: stool softener!!"

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
