"My honest review of Dr. Luong would be one of regret having her operate on me. I went into septic shock from a post op infection after she operated on me and needed to have five additional open abdominal surgeries. I owe tens of thousands of dollars for all of the additional procedures. This initial elective procedure just about took my life and my career away. Please do your research before having Dr. Luong operate on you. "

"I saw this doctor today. I walked in fighting to have a smile on my face while in agony, but after a few minutes with Dr Luong I was in tears. When she walked in she showed zero interest in being there. She didn't listen to me, asked no questions, spent about 30 seconds actually looking at my breasts without asking about my experience in my own body, and talked at rather than with me. When I said she wasn't listening she attacked me and put words in my mouth, like saying I expected surgery that day without an evaluation, which is ridiculous. She knows nothing about my situation and made extreme assumptions based on her lack of knowledge. She even showed bias against my genetic condition that makes my breast issues far worse by calling it very rare, when the 2017 nosology (200 pages she clearly hasn't read) states that just 1 subtype affects an estimated 10M in the US which translates to about 1 in 36 people. She got her prejudice from her alma maters, which are all known to be dismissive ...
and discriminatory to the point they ban their doctors from treating us. Why doesn't she just do the same and say she won't see us rather than having an appt only to make it clear she doesn't want to help - unless she's trying to collect consultation fees for doing harm and causing suffering. Even worse, she blatantly lied. She claimed my insurance needs a prior authorization and photographs. She claimed months of physical therapy on my breasts was required before surgery would be considered. She claimed she'd have to remove all breast tissue (not just go down to a mid to large A) in order to have it covered. She even stated coverage isn't about medical necessity and it's up to the insurance to decide if I'd done enough beforehand to qualify for surgery. When I got home I called Medicare and was told every single one of these statements is false. Medicare doesn't use prior auths. They absolutely don't accept photographs of patient's private parts. They don't require physical therapy prior to surgery, including on breasts. (Was I supposed to go to a random guy to jiggle them for 30 mins 3x/week?) They have no requirement for how much tissue is removed. Beyond coverage for mastectomy and reconstruction, getting a breast reduction is dependent upon the doctor determining it's "medically necessary." Considering severe pain that's only worsened for 15 years and is now unbearable, frequent sores and even ulcers around my breasts, extensive stretch marks even into my arm pits, breast tissue having migrated into my sides from how they lay as I sleep, increased risk of mastitis due previous infections, nipple discharge, skin puckering, lump migrations, the rib directly under my left breast that dislocates from my sternum frequently that causes me to be unable to breathe until I pop it back in and dislocating of ribs from my spine (worsens when wearing bras), dislocating cervical vertebra from the pressure of wearing a bra (especially a sports bra used to reduce breast pain), pressure on my collarbones from bra straps digging in and limiting the use of my arms, even the way it affects my ability to walk with my walker; to immediately dismiss me without ever hearing even 1 of these symptoms then lying to me about how a reduction isn't a "medical necessity" shows how severely prejudiced this woman is. She even told me "I hate breasts!" Then why are you in this job if you hate it so much? It's not the patient's fault that you so hate your job you don't want to look at, talk about, or read the questionnaire about their breasts. This woman has zero empathy for other women's pain, symptoms, or lives. I get the feeling with her medical notes other doctors will be just as dismissive and I'm going to be stuck binding my breasts 24/7 just to try to lessen the severe tearing pain, even though it'll do far more damage long-term. Doing so when I got home has already caused shortness of breath, increased neck/back/head/lung/rib/arm pain, dizziness, increased weakne "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
